First Aid for Mental Health Training – Live in Person and via Zoom/Teams

 

We are pleased to offer our First Aid for Mental Health training courses face to face and live online, via Zoom or Teams.

​The courses are regulated by First Aid Awards, delivered by qualified trainers and includes a 1-1 assessment and leads to a certification of qualification, accredited by SQA/Ofqual.

Courses can be booked online (below) using debit/credit card. The learner will need access to a computer with a reasonable internet connection.

 

Awareness in First Aid for Mental Health – Level 1 Award

FAA LEVEL 1 AWARD IN AWARENESS OF FIRST AID FOR MENTAL HEALTH (RQF)

This qualification provides learners with the knowledge to recognise a range of mental health conditions, start a supportive conversation, and when and how to signpost someone to professional help.

Learners will learn how to recognise and manage stress.

Learners will not diagnose or treat mental health conditions as this can only be carried out by healthcare professionals.

Learners will be able to identify when a person may have a suspected mental health condition, offer reassurance and support, and know where they can go to get help.

First Aid for Mental Health – Level 2 Award

FAA LEVEL 2 AWARD IN FIRST AID FOR MENTAL HEALTH (RQF)

This 6-hour qualification provides learners with the knowledge to recognise a range of mental health conditions, start a supportive conversation, and when and how to signpost someone to professional help.

Learners will learn how to recognise and manage stress and understand the impact of substance abuse.

Learners will learn about the first aid action plan for mental health, be able to put the plan in place, and understand how to implement a positive mental health culture in the workplace.

Mental Health First Aider

Supervising First Aid for Mental Health – Level 3 Award

FAA LEVEL 3 AWARD IN SUPERVISING FIRST AID FOR MENTAL HEALTH (RQF)

This 2 day qualification provides learners with the knowledge to recognise a wide range of mental health conditions and learn about the support/therapy provided by professional healthcare providers.

They will know how to start a supportive conversation and when and how to signpost a person to seek appropriate professional help.

Learners will recognise and manage stress and understand the impact of substance abuse.

Learners will learn about the first aid action plan for mental health, be able to put the plan in place, and understand how to implement a positive mental health culture in the workplace.

First Aid for Youth Mental Health Level 2/5 Award

The FAA Award in First Aid for Youth Mental Health qualification is suitable for anyone who actively connects with children and young people such as parents, carers, teachers, youth group leaders and young adults.

The qualification has been designed with children and young people in mind covering areas such as depression, self harm, eating disorders and bullying and will provide the knowledge to recognise a range of mental health conditions.

How to start a supportive conversation, and provide guidance to professional help. Learners will learn how to recognise and manage stress.

It is delivered over 6 hours either face to face or on line, it can be spread over a couple of weeks.

Learners will learn about the first aid action plan for mental health and be able to put the plan in place.

Learners will not diagnose or treat mental health conditions as this can only be carried out by healthcare professionals.

They will be able to identify when a young person may have a suspected mental health condition, offer reassurance and support, and know where they can go to get help.

Annual Refresher First Aid Mental Health

This course has been designed for First Aiders for Mental Health to refresh their skills and knowledge and to stay up to date with current events.

The course covers key topics from the regulated First Aid for Mental Health qualifications, including the signs and symptoms of mental health conditions.

How to develop a first aid action plan for mental health and ways in which people can improve their general wellbeing.

A 3-hour theory-based training course.

A range of subjects are covered to ensure delegates are up to date with the role of First Aid for Mental Health.

Although there is no formal assessment, the trainer will assess each individual ongoing throughout the course and issue a certificate of attendance for CPD.
